Day and Priestland selected in Wales Rugby World Cup squad

Bath Rugby second row Dominic Day has been selected for Wales' Rugby World Cup, where he is joined by future Club teammate Rhys Priestland.

The 30-year-old, who only made his Test debut earlier this month in a World Cup warm-up clash with Ireland, is one of five locks named, with Wales Head Coach Warren Gatland following Australia's lead in only naming two hookers.

Having missed out on All Blacks selection himself in the past, Gatland was speaking from personal experience when he said: "Some of the decisions were the toss of a coin. Those players that have missed out, you feel for them massively," he said.

"It is incredibly disappointing for those players that miss out. It's hard, but you have got to accept that is the nature of professional sport and we are entrusted to make what we believe are the right calls.

"I think there is a nice balance in the squad between the physicality that we can bring, which we saw on the weekend, and hopefully with some skill as well."

Wales kick off their World Cup campaign against Uruguay in Cardiff on September 20 but things will soon get tougher, with Fiji, England and Australia also in Pool A.
