Bath Rugby 6, Leicester Tigers 37
Bath Rugby slumped to a record Premiership loss at The Rec, suffering a five-tries-to-none drubbing at the hands of reigning champions Leicester.
Bath players and head coach alike confessed after the final whistle to being “embarrassed” by the 31-point losing margin – but the scoreline did not reveal the full story.
In the first half, Bath enjoyed three-quarters of possession as they began in a passionate, up-beat fashion.
They had a hatful of chances, but could never deliver a telling blow when the line was in sight.
As the game wore on Bath became ever more frantic, throwing increasingly speculative off-loads.
