It is a truth, universally acknowledged, that a young rugby player of good fortune probably won’t sign for Bath just because the city has a Jane Austen Museum. In fact, none of Luke Watson, Pieter Dixon, Butch James or Michael Claasen has been to the temple to middle England’s greatest novelist; all four are in determined mood as the new English season unfolds, however, and prepared to lead Bath to what could be a famous new era for the club.
